“The Old Brick School House on Meeting Street: A platform for historic changes in Rhode Island”

Stachiw On Thursday, May 1, Myron Stahiw will speak on the historic development of the Providence Preservation Society's own Brick School House, built in 1769. Appriately, this lecture will take place on the seciond floor of the Brick School House (24 Meeting Street). Mr. Stachiw is an archaeologist, social and architectural historian, preservationist, and educator.  For the past 35 years he has worked with individual private and public stewards of historic properties, historical agencies and museums, state and local preservation agencies, and universities in the United States and Europe to research, interpret, and preserve historic and cultural resources.  He as lectured and held teaching appointments throughout New England, and is currently a visiting lecturer in the graduate Historic Preservation Program in the Department of Art, Architecture, and Art History at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.  From 2004 to 2012 he lived in worked in Ukraine as a Fulbright Scholar and as Director of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine and the Ukraine Office of the Institute of International Education.  He currently resides in East Woodstock, CT, with his family.
